ABOUT ONE LESS
Health and well-being becomes more and more important as 700 people a day are diagnosed with diabetes and obesity continues to rise. We know how hard it can be for people to change what they eat and make it sustainable. For this reason, we have set up The One Less Challenge. The aim of the challenge is to encourage the whole of Birmingham to join in and pledge to have one less for 30 days. This can be anything from a spoonful of sugar per cup of tea/coffee to a pint or a bar of chocolate less a day. It is about having one less of that something you know you really should cut down on. It’s not about giving anything up, simply having one less is what we are asking people to pledge.
The aim of the challenge is to allow people across Birmingham to see that small changes can make a big difference. The challenge is free for people and companies to join. We will be launching the challenge in July and are currently looking for companies and organisations to sign up ready for the big launch.
If your company or organisation would like to sign up to The One Less Challenge, we would ask for you to commit to one or more of the following:
Promote the challenge internally – we can provide you with posters
Allow us to say you are joining us and use your logo on our website
Sponsor the event – helping us with promotional costs
Match fund – adding to anything your employees raise for joining the challenge
Once the event is launched people, who decide to join in will sign up via our website. This will then allow them to join with others on social media and Facebook Messenger to pledge what they are going to have one less of. Throughout the 30 days they will receive messages and can chat with others who are part of the challenge. If people wish to support the work we do, they can donate via the website or visit our Just Giving The One Less Challenge page.
